Avveneur / Italian Bishops: True secularism, doesn't bar crucifixes from public classrooms!

(Catholic Watchdog South Africa; c.f. Avvenneur (Catholic; Italian Bishops' Paper; Italian) 03 / 11 | November / 2009 ; 03 / 11 | November / 2009 )

According to the Italian Bishops (Italian Episcopal Conference: IEC), quoted in their official paper Avveneur, the decision to bar crucifixes from spanish classrooms, made by the European Court for Human Rights, in Strasbourg, seems ideological in nature. According to the paper, the decision neglected what they claim to be the great significance of the crucifix, which they say is not only a symbol which is religious, but one which is cultural.

The Italian Episcopal Conference further notes their belief that the decision: "does not take into account that, in reality, the Italian experience of the Crucified exposure in public places is consistent with the recognition of the principles of Catholicism as 'part of the historical heritage of the Italian people' reaffirmed by the Concordat of 1984".
(Loose translation by Google)
(Avvenneur (Catholic; Italian Bishops' Paper; Italian) 03 / 11 | November / 2009)

The Italian Bishops claim to fear that the decision will forcibly separate the Italian National Identity, from its alleged cultural and spiritual mix. The Bishops, in their statement: claim that the form of secularism being promoted is that which is hostile to all forms of political and cultural religion, and to any religious symbol in public institutions.

The case was brought by a secular woman, who did not want her children to learn with crucifixes on the walls of the classroom, allegedly believing that the children would be influenced away from their secular upbringing. The decision, has sparked outrage among many in largely Catholic Italy.

Avveneur further quotes Monsignor Vincenzo Pagalia, of the IEC's Committee for Interreligious Dialogue, saying:

"Bishop Paglia, IEC responsible for Interreligious Dialogue, rejected the argument that the crucifix in classrooms represents an imposition. "I do not think - he said -. It is a reminder of what happens to humans when justice is not respected, and which shows a value of generosity that we all need faith in any apartment." "In this sense - he concluded - there is also a dimension of cultural and educational weight that it is irresponsible really want to delete."" (loose translation by Google, only acronym altered)

SAPA: Cape Town: Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace, joins leftest protestors- calling for nationalization of food industries!

(Catholic Watchdog South Africa; c.f. IOL's the Star (Secular; Independent; South African) story by SAPA (Secular; Independent; South African) 18 / 10 | October / 2009)

Article by Marc Aupiais

According to the South African Press Association (SAPA):

"[...]about 50 protesters gathered outside Parliament's main gate in Plein Street, Cape Town, at noon on Sunday, calling for rising food prices to be checked.

Among other things, the group called for the nationalisation of basic food production, including milk and bread.

The protesters, from the Congress of SA Trade Unions, the Black Sash, the Children's Resource Centre and the Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace, displayed posters proclaiming: "Fight hunger - demand food security for all".

[... the memorandum was] addressed to President Jacob Zuma and Agriculture Minister Tina Joemat-Petterrson [...]"
(IOL's the Star (Secular; Independent; South African) story by SAPA (Secular; Independent; South African) 18 / 10 | October / 2009)

The local Catholic church in South Africa, has often leant more to the left of the spectrum than to the right. Catholic dogma condemns communism as intrinsically evil. A government takeover of the agricultural industry in neighbouring Zimbabwe, resulted in agricultural collapse.

In South Africa, a government redistribution of land program, was recently blamed for an increase in the murders of Caucasian farmers, during a report, by investigative journalism program- Carte Blanche, which also criticized the program as unrealistic.

The South African government, is attempting to replace white, yet experienced farmers, with non-white citizens, in accordance with "transformation" policy. Unfortunately, many who receive land, do not know how to use it correctly, and make almost no profit. The government sponsored violent takeover of land in neighbouring Zimbabwe, is used as justification by the South African government, for its own project.

The government reportedly has plans in the pipeline to start forcing sales of land, rather than use the willing-buyer, willing-seller method. It is unsure why what seems prima facie to be an institution of the Archdiocese of Cape Town, has taken a decision clearly not supported by all Catholics in the country, that is- a decision to campaign to take the control of the agricultural industry, away from the farmers and companies which have sustained it.

Archbishop Buthi, of Johannesburg, the president of the SACBC (Southern African Catholic Bishops' Conference), previously lamented the removal of former president Thabo Mbecki from office, claiming that ruling the ANC (African National Congress) had done a lot more in power than the world recognizes, he has also in the past claimed that government corruption is leading South Africa to sin and ruin. Both Cosatu, and the Black Sash, have often been affiliated with the pro-abortion, pro-homosexual-"marriage" ruling ANC.

Americas: Caribbean: Honduras: Honduras' Catholic Church supports new government

(Catholic Watchdog South Africa; c.f. Reuters (Secular; independent; British) 15 / 07 | July / 2009 ; 01 / 07 | July / 2009 ; Catholic Culture (Catholic; American; Independent) 06 / 07 | July / 2009  ; AP [Associated Press] (Secular; independent; American) 28 / 06 | June / 2009: Story hosted by Yahoo ; CNN [Central News Network](American; independent; Secular: accused regularly of biases) 28 / 06 | June / 2009 ; CNA [Catholic News Agency] (Catholic; American; Independent) 06 / 06 | June / 2008 )

Article by Marc Aupiais

British News Agency, Reuters: reports, that Cardinal Oscar Rodriguez Maradiaga, and the Catholic Church, in Honduras, have seemingly given their open support to Roberto Micheletti's government, the man voted in as new president by the Nation's congress.

Nearby superpower, the United States of America, has named the military supported transfer of power a coup, while the former president alleged that he was kidnapped. Supporters of the new government, including the Caribbean country's Supreme Court, and Catholic Bishops: claim that the former president had disrespected the laws of the country, and that while the transfer of power involved the military, that it is a lawful and legitimate transfer of power. They claim, that the former president wanted to illegitimately alter the constitution of the country, to gain another term in office.

The Catholic Church in Honduras, which has had a shaky relationship with left leaning: former President Manuel Zelaya (elected for a non-renewable term in office in 2005), has noted that the "coup" occurred in accordance with a court order, to the effect of legitimizing the removing of Zelaya from power, and claims that its position is in fact, out of respect of Honduran law, which it claims Zelaya has broken.

The Catholic Church claims that it did not support the exiling of Zelaya, but does not support his return to the country. Some, including a Jesuit priest and radio personalityIsmael Moreno who was publicly critical of the choice: had seemingly hoped that the role of mediator, taken up by Costa Rican President Oscar Arias, would be assumed by the Church. The Church's previous position, had been perceived by some as hinting at this. It now- claims to remain neutral, but respectful of the law. The law, being in its view: on the side of the new government.

This view, that the military was acting subject to Honduran law, has also been publicized by the Honduran Supreme Court, which claims that the military action, was lawful, and that the former president, had been planning to violate the law, via a referendum, about whether or not a president, such as Zelaya: could run for another term.

Zelaya, previously seen as a moderate, has been accused of attempting to institute a Chavez (Venezuelan President) style "socialist" scheme in Honduras, as well, as of attempting to extend his term in office. Venezuela, and others affiliated with socialism, have condemned the changeover of power in Honduras. Zelaya, is seen as close to Chavez, who has been accused of allowing Human Rights abuses against Catholics in his country.

The Catholic church, in Honduras, is both powerful, and political. It is reportedly the most trusted institution in the country. The Cardinal Oscar Rodriguez Maradiaga, had at one stage been placed in charge of a commission governing the police. This despite the Aquinisian notation: that the priest must not carry the sword.

Zelaya, is a known advocate of abortion, and has been accused by the Catholic church in his country, of being a dictator.

The change of power in Honduras has been explicitly condemned by left leaning United States of America president: Barack Obama, as well as officials, in a number of other nations. The Organization of American States, had particularly attacked the new government. Chavez ally: suspended priest and former Sandinista leader Miguel D'Escoto Brockmann, controversial president of U.N. (United Nations) General Assembly since September 2008, has also condemned the takeover.

The Catholic church in the country, publicly states that the takeover was legitimate, and claims that the takeover was in accordance with a court orderZelaya, who claims that the referendum was more of a poll, than a ballot- faces arrest, should he return to the country.

Americas: Caribbean: Cuba: Second priest in five months killed in communist Cuba

(Catholic Watchdog South Africa; c.f. Reuters (Secular; Independent; British) Monday 13 / 07 | July / 2009 [link] ; AP (Secular; Independent; American) Monday 13 / 07 | July / 2009 [Link] : Via Yahoo news; via AP Hosted ; Zenit News Service (Catholic; Independent; American) Monday 13 / 07 | July / 2009 [Link]: Spanish Language edition;  translation by Google of 13 / 07 | July / 2009 [Link] Zenit News Service Article )

Article by Marc Aupiais

In a death, which is reported to not immediately seem connected to a similar incident within the last five months: a second (2nd) Roman Catholic Priest, has reportedly been murdered in Communist Cuba.

From first reports: it appears that Spanish Priest, Mariano Arroyo Merino, was reportedly found dead in one of the rooms of: the Nuestra Señora de Regla (Our Lady of Regla) parish, in Regla, by Havana Bay: in the Havana Archdiocese.

An automatic translation of Zenit's report on the issue, includes some details of the priest's life:

"Father Mariano Arroyo was born on February 20, 1935, in Cabezon de la Sal, Cantabria. He was ordained priest on April 17, 1960. Soon after, in 1962, left as a missionary in Santiago, Chile, where he remained until 1968. From 1969 to 1979 working again in Madrid, Spain, as a pastor and trainer of the seminar. In 1980 he returned to Chile, and served in several parishes in the Diocese of Copiapó."
(  translation by Google of 13 / 07 | July / 2009 [Link] Zenit News Service Article)
Arrayo, landed in Cuba, in the month of January (19th January), 1997, the same month as the Late Pope John Paul II visited the Caribbean Island in that year (AP (Secular; Independent; American) Monday 13 / 07 | July / 2009 [Link] : Via Yahoo news). In December 2004, Arrayo, was seemingly appointed rector of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Regla,  which is across from the Havana Bay. This is where he reportedly died (translation by Google of 13 / 07 | July / 2009 [Link] Zenit News Service Article).

As the February 14th death, of Rev. Eduardo de la Fuente Serrano, in a not very populous area west of Havana, is still under investigation, this second death has caught some attention. The Archdiocese of Havana, under Cardinal Jaime Lucas Ortega y Alamino, did not make any release about any suspicions involving who could have killed the priest. They did however comment on his life.

South Africa: Continuing attacks on religion, by (ANC and National President) Zuma Allies: Friends of (President) Jacob Zuma, accuse body of RSA mainstream churches (including Catholic Church) of trying to create a "cult" out of Christianity

(Catholic Watchdog South Africa; c.f. IOL (Secular; independent; South African) 23 / 06 (June) / 2009)

Article by Marc Aupiais

IOL [Independent Newspapers South Africa] (IOL (Secular; independent; South African) 23 / 06 (June) / 2009) reports: that the Gauteng Branch of "Friends of Jacob Zuma Trust", an infamous business alliance, which is known for their public backing of the current South African President: Jacob Zuma, has in Gauteng province, accused the South African Council of Churches (SACC) of Privatizing Jesus, and attempting to control Jesus and Christian religion, and of attempting to create a "cult" out of Christianity.

Jacob Zuma, who avoided hundreds corruption charges, when his allies fired the previous National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP), and disbanded the Task force (Organizaed Crime Unit: Scorpions) investigating him for corruption, who himself is a New Wave "honorary Pastor", and a pilygamist, is no stranger to having his allies attack religion. Important sources in communistic trade union, Cosatu, memorably attacked the Ten Commandments, when Zuma committed adultry on his many wives, with a woman who accused him of rape, and has fled the country, a judge had "clearedZuma: the ANC has refused to guarantee the particular AIDS activist woman's safety. Zuma followers had accidentally stoned a woman who looked like her.

IOL quotes, whats they call a  release this Wednesday, by the "Friends of Jacob Zuma Trust", in Gauteng Province, who have reportedly stated:

"We refuse like many other South African Christians to allow the SACC to conduct itself as if they own Jesus Christ. It has become clear that this religious body wants to turn the Christian religion into some sort of a cult belonging to a particular grouping."
(IOL (Secular; independent; South African) 23 / 06 (June) / 2009)

The South African Council of Churches (SACC), is an important body, representing many Christian mainstream, and somewhat known, and somewhat unknown religions in very "ChristianSouth Africa. One of its members is the Southern African Conference of Catholic Bishops (SACBC), which represents the local Catholic Church, on the SACC. Zuma has been accused of using religion to his own means. His controversial activities, have drawn flack from many local Christian churches' figures.

A major opposition leader, with ANC breakaway COPE, is a retired Methodist Bishop:

Jacob Zuma claims that the ANC will rule until "Jesus" comes, among other things: which local religious figures have called blasphemy.

Members of the South African Council of Churches (SACC), include: the so-called:

"African Catholic Church
African Methodist Episcopal Church
Anglican Church of Southern Africa
Apostolic Faith Mission of South Africa
Baptist Convention
Coptic Orthodox Church
Council of African Instituted Churches
Dutch Reformed Church (Nederduitse Gereformeerde Kerk)
Ethiopian Episcopal Church
Evangelical Church in South Africa
Evangelical Lutheran Church in Southern Africa
Evangelical Lutheran Church in South Africa (Natal/Transvaal)
Evangelical Presbyterian Church in South Africa
Gereformeerde Kerke in Suid-Afrika (Observer)
Greek Orthodox Archbishopric of Johannesburg & Pretoria
International Federation of Christian Churches
Maranatha Reformed Church of Christ
Methodist Church of Southern Africa
Moravian Church in Southern Africa
Presbyterian Church in Africa
Religious Society of Friends (Quakers)
Salvation Army
Southern African Catholic Bishops' Conference
United Congregational Church of Southern Africa
Uniting Presbyterian Church in Southern Africa
Uniting Reformed Church of Southern Africa
Volkskerk van Afrika "
according to their website: http://www.sacc.org.za/members.html
The Southern African Catholic Bishops' Conference, being the representation of the Roman Catholic Church, on the council.

Southern Cross' Editor in Chief's: attack on "Catholic Culture"/"Trinity Communications", and "South African Catholic", both of which criticized the w

The "Southern Cross": is a "catholic" weekly sold in "Southern African" "Catholic" Parishes. The "Southern African Catholic Bishops' Conference" ("SACBC"): does have partial control of it: in "South Africa" their parishes sell the paper in churches around the country, where priests advertise the paper: to parishioners. "Cardinal Wilfred Napier": noted to us, in a 2008 email conversation: that the "Southern Cross": has what he called: an "anti-magisterial bias": and often portrays the views of the "world", rather than those of the "Church": we have published the email: here (">Cardinal Napier's response to concerns over the Southern Cross).

Editor of the "Southern Cross": "Southern Cross" has been around for 88 years. Reader of an article in his paper is "Wrong" to ask for an external source other than the views of the "Southern Cross".

Reader links to an article by "South African Catholic": noting the "Southern Cross"'s status as noted by "Catholic Culture"/"Trinity Communications".

"Gunther Simmermacher": calls "South African Catholic": a "joke" of a site, and "paranoid", and like a "Valentine"'s day teddy: ironically siting mention of "seemless garment" approach to abortion: which "Catholic Culture": not our own organization had criticized the "Southern Cross" for: the "Southern Cross was supporting a radically pro-abortion politician via such statements.

Via email: "Gunther": editor of the "Southern Cross": had previously given "South African Catholic" full permission to criticize them positively, or critically. The "Southern Cross": also sidesteps the issues, and evidence noted by "Catholic Culture", by attacking the sources of criticism.

Reader of "Southern Cross": asks how the "Southern Cross" can be the only authority, and questions the actions of the Editor.

"Southern Cross" editor: says that the "Mitchel's Plain" church's priest has "banned" his paper: in response to the viewer of the article raising a banning of the "Southern Cross": the editor then goes on to say that the choice by the said pastor: was against the views of his bishop.

The "Southern Cross" has been internationally lambasted by Catholic Media, including "Trinity Communications"/"Catholic Culture": for their support of radically pro-abortion politicians, their conistent attacks on Vatican policy, their position on contraception, etc. They have also got a habit, according to "Cardinal Wilfred Napier": of the "Archdiocese of Durban": who replied (click here to view) to an email from our service: publishing letters against the church. The Cardinal also claims they have an anti-magisterial bias. The Magisterium is the "Infallible": doctrine of the church.

Asia: Southern Asia: China: Church on Chinese Church: Chinese Public church undermines Catholic growth; as China cracks down on Catholics (Again)

(Catholic Watchdog South Africa; c.f. Catholique (French; Catholic; Status with church: unknown): via a Zenit News Service Article (Catholic; American; Independent) 02 / 04 / 2009; News 24 (South African; Secular; Independent): article by AP (American; Independent; Secular) 02 / 04 / 2009)

Article by Marc Aupiais

A commission, on problems in the "Chinese Catholic Church", originally established in 2007, by Pontiff: "Pope Benedict XVI": has met for a second time since it's life began: this second meeting: took place from 30th March 2009, to 1st April 2009. It was to look at how the Catholic Church in "China" was doing. The Result: it has found that the State imposed "Official Church": originally created by the "Atheistic Communists": via an imposed schism in 1951: which operates against the wishes of the "Catholic" church: is damaging growth of the "Catholic" Church: in China. This due to the splitting of Catholic resources. While: in the meeting: training was emphasized: the events have once again revealed deep and concerning issues within "China".

Because resources are split between the "Official", or "Patriotic", or "Open" Chinese "Catholic Church", and the true Vatican affiliated "unofficial" "Chinese Catholic church", or the "Underground" "Catholic" Church: the commission found that the environment in "China" was better suited for "Protestant" growth: than that of an environment suiting: "Catholic" growth.

In 2007: "Benedict XVI": asked that those in the "Underground Catholic Church": attempt to bring the "official" church back into reconciliation with them. The "Official" Chinese "Catholic" church, due to control by a power outside of the Vatican: over it: is canonically speaking: largely in "Schism" with the Vatican: on the same level as the "FSSPX"/"SSPX" ("Priestly"/"Fraternal Society of Saint (Pope) Pius X"/ "Leferbvrites") is said to be; which is a deep problem for the Vatican.

Recently, as the two "churches" in "China",have been growing closer: it is alleged: that the "Chinese Government": is forcing those in their state-stolen "Patriotic" church: to decry the Vatican as interfering: in some effort to prevent "Catholic" efforts at reuniting the "Chinese" Sheep: within the official "Patriotic" "Chinese" "Catholic" Church, with the "Catholic Community's" "German" Born spiritual Shepherd: as the "Unofficial Chinese Church" has already done with themselves.

According to AP: reporting: yesterday: the Vatican has denounced the Arrest of the Bishop of the "Diocese of Zhengdin": "Monsignor Bishop Giulio Jia Zhiguo", as well as: the latest crackdowns on Catholics still loyal to the Vatican.

According to AsiaNews: a vital, and accurate news source, operating out of the perilous conditions in many countries in Asia: priests have been arrested for saying the "underground mass": and others have been coerced into criticizing the Vatican: by the intrusive, ruling "Chinese" "Communist Party".

"China" is famous for its multiple ongoing human rights abuses: and for the covert power it yields over many weaker governments throughout the world. Fears of "Chinese" control, or coercion: have surfaced in "South Africa": as: along with a denial of a Visa to world Leader: "The Dalai Lama": press reports were leaked: that the communist affiliated and slightly communistic: "ANC" ("African National Congress": "South Africa"'s "Ruling Party"): is allegedly (according to "South Africa"'s "Mail and Guardian") partially funded by the "Chinese Communist Party".

2% (Two Percent) of "China"'s population are reportedly "Catholic". Pontiff: "Pope Benedict XVI": has made it a focus of his papacy to reuniting schisms, such as the priestly "schism" of the "SSPX", and that of the "Chinese Patriotic" "Catholic" church: with the Vatican Affiliated: "Roman Catholic Church".

Cardinal "Tarcisio Bertone": chaired the meeting, which involved some thirty applicable persons: on the "Chinese Catholic Church": he is the "Vatican" State's "Secretary of State".
